Prof.Dr. Anastas Angjeli

Academic Anastas Angjeli is a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania since 31 March 2022.

Prof. Dr. Angjeli graduated in “Finance and Banking” in 1980 from the Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana. In 1987, Mr Angjeli has attended the postgraduate studies, PhD level in “Public Finances” at the Faculty of Economy, “University of Tirana. In 1991-1992, he finished his postgraduate studies in “Public Finances” at Universita di Economia e Comercio, Bari (Italy).

He has started his long-standing academic career in 1982, as a lecturer of Public Finances at the Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana. He holds the title Professor in Finance since 1995, and the academic title at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Albania since 2011. He is a member of the European Academy of Science and Arts since 2013. Prof. Angjeli holds the title Doctor Honoris Causa in some universities, as: the University of Istanbul in Turkey; the International University of Struga in the Republic of North Macedonia; and the NAU University in Kiev, Ukraine.

In 2007-2013, he has been engaged as a visiting professor in various universities in Albania and abroad. Meanwhile, in 2009-2013, he has served as the Rector in the Mediterranean University of Albania.

Prof.Dr. Angjeli, throughout his extensive career, has provided his contribution both in the academic field and public sector.

Prof. Dr. Angjeli has been several times a member of the government and has served as: the Minister of Finance; the Minister of Labour and Social Issues; and as the Minister of Economy. While holding these position, Mr Angjeli has also served as Deputy Governor of the Republic of Albania in the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

In addition, he has served as a member of the Albanian Parliament for a long period of legislatures, from 1992 until 2021, where he has been a member, deputy chair and chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance.

Over his long-standing professional career, Prof.Dr. Angjeli is the author of many economic and social scientific publications and studies in both Albania and abroad.

Mr Angjeli holds the title “Order of Independence” given by the President of Kosovo in 2019, and the title “ Knight of the Order of Skanderbeg” given by the President of the Republic of Albania in 2022.

He fluent in English, Italian, Russian and Greek.
