Bank of Albania puts in circulation the 5 LEKË coin, legal tender, issue of 2023

The Bank of Albania informs the public that, as of 20 June 2024, the 5 LEKË coin, legal tender, issue of 2023, will be put in circulation.

Reminting of the legal tender 5 LEKË coin was approved by Decision No 02, dated 18.01.2023 of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, pursuant to the Law No. 8269, dated 23.12.1997 “On the Bank of Albania”, as amended.

The 5 LEKË coin, issue of 2023, has the same alloy composition, design, dimensions and weight as the last issue of this denomination.

The change from the earlier issues consist in the year of issue, i.e “2023".

From 20 June 2024, the 5 LEKË coin, legal tender, issue of 2023, will be used as a means of payment in parallel to all existing coins of this denomination in circulation, from earlier issues.
