Financial Stability
The Bank of Albania has the responsibility to guarantee that the banking system in particular and the financial system in general are stable and efficient.
A stable and efficient financial system is important to preserve, protect and enhance the intermediation, the macroeconomic stability and the efficiency of the central bank’s monetary policy pass through.
At the same time, a stable and efficient financial system realizes the transformation of savings into investments, improves the distribution of financial resources in the economy, and contributes to the development and advancement of financial markets where, among other things, the participants act to minimize risks and maximize profit.
Also, as the supervisor and regulator of the banking sector and of certain non-banking financial institutions, the Bank of Albania contributes to safeguarding the financial stability through the development and implementation of the macroprudential policy, to both prevent and tackle the systemic risk.
